ZTE rolls out COVID-19 relief initiatives for employees in India

Chinese telecoms gear maker ZTE Monday rolled out COVID-19 relief initiatives such as a COVID Review Team,exclusive COVID insurance, Doctor on Call facility for its employees in India and said it will cover their vaccination cost.

The COVID Review Team is said to consist of ZTE India senior management to drive employee welfare actions. This team assesses the number of active cases and patterns among staff on a daily basis in order to support them, while the COVID insurance will cover the costs of hospitalization and home isolation.

This policy supplements the existing Group Mediclaim Coverage Policy for employees and their families, according to an official statement.

Additionally, the company has extended “Doctor on Call” services to its employees while providing emergency assistance at a reduced fee.

The telecoms gear maker has also set up a ‘Help Desk’ for employees and their families to seek assistance with issues such as medicine, oxygen, and hospital beds.

ZTE is also providing “Healthy ZTE-Healthy India” safety hygiene kits. Under this effort, the company has launched its “Get Vaccination” program to encourage the vaccination of employees and their families.

The gear maker said it will cover the cost of vaccination for its employees. It has further set up oxygen concentrators at various locations and intends to bring more, depending on the demand.

Furthermore, a stock of oxygen canisters has been procured at various location offices for mildly affected employees or their families, it said.

“We at ZTE have always believed in the holistic development of our employees and community as a whole. Our employees’ wellbeing is our primary concern, and the company will support and assist them at every step of the way,” said Ashoka Li, Chief Executive Officer, ZTE India.

The company is also providing its affected employees with COVID-related medications and psychological counseling to help them cope with the stress.
