Centre open to changes in DPDP law to protect press freedom, says Ashwini Vaishnaw
The Centre is open to amending the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) law to explicitly safeguard press freedom, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Wednesday. This move is attempted amid growing concerns among news publishers over its possible impact on journalism.
He added that DPDP Act does not curtail press freedom, cites constitutional guarantees for media independence.
