Global Market: Japan’s Nikkei slides over 2% as AI stock selloff deepens on US chip weakness
Japan’s Nikkei share average fell sharply on Tuesday, extending its losing streak to a fourth session as a selloff in artificial intelligence-related stocks gathered pace following losses in US semiconductor shares, while geopolitical tensions further dampened investor sentiment, according to a report by Reuters.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 dropped 2.64% to 67,206.79 in early trading, while the broader Topix index slipped 0.56% to 4,081.76.
