Punjab applicants duped in Canada immigration scam as fraudsters use AI to pose as officials
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has warned newcomers and immigration applicants to remain vigilant against increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes, including scams in which artificial intelligence is used to create convincing fake videos, voices and other content made to appear as if it comes from government sources.
The advisory comes amid complaints from a few people in Punjab who were allegedly duped by fraudsters posing as immigration officials and offering guaranteed jobs in exchange for kickbacks.
