Data Centre

Andhra Pradesh has cleared four large data-centre and AI-infrastructure projects across Vizianagaram, Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam districts, with a combined proposed investment of more than Rs 2.83 lakh crore — one of the larger data-centre pipelines assembled by any Indian state so far. The projects range from a 486 MW facility to a 1,000 MW plant and a 512 MW green integrated AI data centre and collectively point to nearly 2,000 MW of capacity, though the capacity of the largest of the four, Reliance Industries’ Vizianagaram project, has not been specified in the government order.
In this process, large incentives have been offered, including SGST waivers, cheap land, concessional electricity, and the creation of massive transmission infrastructure for a sector that consumes significant power. While states provide these incentives primarily to drive local job creation, data centers actually operate with a skeleton crew due to high levels of automation.
