Constl completes 1.6 Tbps channel transmission on live NLD network with Ciena
NEW DELHI: Carrier-neutral infrastructure provider Constl, a subsidiary of Space World Group, on Thursday completed a 1.6 Tbps channel transmission over its live national long-distance (NLD) network across the Mumbai-Pune corridor.
The transmission was conducted using Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) technology on a live production network, according to a joint statement.
This makes Constl the first connectivity provider in India to complete a 1.6 Tbps channel over an NLD network. The development follows Constl and Ciena’s 1 Tbps transmission across a 1,450-km Mumbai-Chennai long-haul route in 2025, with the latest trial representing a 60 per cent increase in demonstrated optical channel capacity.
