Microsoft’s AI infrastructure push India: Hyderabad hub goes live, brings frontier AI capability closer to Indian businesses

At its AI Infrastructure Summit, Microsoft announced the expansion of its technological footprint in India, designating its newly operational Hyderabad datacenter region – named India South Central – as a strategic operational anchor for Asia and the Global South. The launch forms a core operational milestone within the technology giant’s $20.5 billion investment roadmap for the country, designed to convert long-term financial pledges into physical computing muscle for enterprise cloud and AI workloads. Puneet Chandok, president of Microsoft India and South Asia, revealed in his keynote presentation that all of Microsoft’s cloud regions across the country are now equipped with AI-capable hardware and specialised high-efficiency thermal cooling systems.
