India needs to move beyond chip manufacturing, use Indian chips in products designed and made locally: Report
New Delhi: India’s next phase of semiconductor development should move beyond simply increasing chip manufacturing capacity and focus on building an ecosystem where chips designed, produced and packaged in the country are increasingly used in products designed and manufactured domestically, according to a report by EY-IESA (India Electronics and Semiconductor Association).
The report said India’s semiconductor journey has entered a decisive phase, with the foundations of a domestic ecosystem being established through public investments, anchor manufacturing projects, expanding design capabilities and a broader policy framework under Semicon India 2.0.
