India now has five semiconductor units in production, ISM 2.0 to build wider ecosystem: MeitY secretary

India now has five semiconductor units that have been built and are in production, marking a key milestone in the country’s chip manufacturing push, Electronics and Information Technology Ministry Secretary S Krishnan said on Thursday.

The next phase of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM 2.0) will build on this manufacturing capacity by developing a broader domestic semiconductor ecosystem, spanning the various capabilities and industries needed to support chip production in India, Krishnan said.
