19 arrested in call centre raid after alleged fraud targeting foreign nationals

Nineteen people were arrested after a joint police team raided an alleged illegal call centre operating in Salt Lake’s Sector V on Tuesday night.

The operators allegedly posed as representatives of reputed companies, including a global e-commerce giant, to dupe foreign nationals.

Acting on a tip-off, teams from Bidhannagar Cyber Crime police station, the Special Operations Group and the Electronics Complex police station conducted the raid, police sources said.
