John Ternus takes Apple helm: 25-year hardware veteran inherits $4.7T tech giant amid AI race

John Ternus is now the chief executive officer of Apple, taking charge of one of the world’s most powerful and closely tracked companies after spending almost his entire professional life helping build its products.

For 25 years, Ternus worked his way through Apple’s hardware organisation, rising from an engineer to the company’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. Along the way, he helped shape generations of the Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch and played an important role in introducing products including AirPods.
