Gujarat’s cybercrime cases fall 20% in 2024, but five-year data points to persistent threat

AHMEDABAD: Official data tabled in Parliament reveals that while Gujarat recorded a 20.2 per cent decline in registered cybercrime cases in 2024, the state’s digital crime challenge remains significant. According to Ministry of Home Affairs data based on the latest NCRB Crime in India report, Gujarat registered 1,592 cybercrime cases in 2024, down from 1,995 the previous year. However, a year-on-year decline in registered cases does not by itself establish a corresponding reduction in the actual incidence of cybercrime.
