Mumbai Metro gets India-first AI upgrade to detect faults before service disruptions
Mumbai Metro has launched an AI-powered system that can check a crucial train component within seconds while the metro is in operation. This move is aimed at detecting potential faults early and reducing the chances of severe disruptions.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) shared on X that its Maha Mumbai Metro has deployed India’s first AI-based Automated Pantograph Condition Monitoring System for metro operations.
As per MMRDA, the technology enables real-time and automatic inspections of pantographs on trains in operations service, replacing a process that depended on periodic, manual inspections.
