China’s data centre power demand to quadruple to 774 TWh by 2030 amid AI boom

New Delhi [India], August 25 (ANI): China’s data centre electricity consumption is projected to quadruple to 774 terawatt-hours (TWh) by 2030 as rapid growth in artificial intelligence workloads drives a structural rise in computing-related power demand, according to a release by Wood Mackenzie.

The research firm said data centres could account for 6 per cent of China’s total electricity consumption by 2030, up from current levels, with their share potentially rising to 17 per cent by 2060.
