South Africa telco MTN’s half-year adjusted profit rises more than 21%

JOHANNESBURG: South African mobile operator MTN Group reported on Monday a 21.3% increase in half-year adjusted profit, largely driven by subscriber growth that accelerated in ‌the second ⁠quarter, ⁠and double-digit growth in service revenue.

Africa’s biggest telecom operator, ​which has more than 317 million customers in 19 markets, ​said its adjusted headline earnings per share (HEPS) rose to 793 cents in the six ​months ended June 30, up from ⁠654 cents ‌a year earlier.
