SEMICON India 2026: 3 plants running, more coming by year-end – Inside the $200 billion chip opportunity ahead
India’s semiconductor push is now moving from policy announcements to visible factory floors, and the central government is using the upcoming ‘SEMICON India 2026′ event to showcase both progress and ambition. According to the release of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the fifth edition of SEMICON India, themed ‘Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem’, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2026 at Yashobhoomi-India International Convention and Expo Centre in New Delhi.
This event is being positioned as the country’s biggest gathering of chipmakers, equipment suppliers, designers, investors and also policymakers after PM Modi signalled the next phase of chip push as domestic production gains momentum in India.
