Full circle: Better sacks Vishal Garg as 2021 mass layoff controversy resurfaces
Vishal Garg, the Indian-origin entrepreneur whose abrupt firing of about 900 employees on a four-minute Zoom call in 2021 triggered widespread criticism, has been removed as chief executive of digital mortgage lender Better Home & Finance.
Better’s board said Garg has relinquished his CEO position and also stepped down from the company’s board. His departure brings to a close a difficult period for the lender, which faced a sharp reputational hit, senior management exits and a steep decline in its stock value following the mass layoffs.
