Bharti Airtel discontinues select prepaid plans as telco eyes ARPU growth

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel has discontinued its ₹299, ₹319, ₹579, ₹619, and ₹649 prepaid plans effective immediately, as India’s second-largest telco looks to increase its average revenue per user (ARPU).

The telco’s next available plans in the affected categories will cost 5% to 16% more, according to a review of the latest listing on Airtel’s website.

Following the removal of Airtel’s affordable ₹299 plan, the next plan is priced at ₹349, reflecting a 16% increase. The discontinued plan offered 1.5GB data per day, while the ₹349 plan offers 2GB data per day for 28 days.
