Brad Lightcap, one of OpenAI’s longest-serving senior executives and a primary architect of its enterprise sales business, announced his resignation on Tuesday (August 11), marking the latest departure in a series of high-level executive exits at the artificial intelligence (AI) company. Lightcap joined OpenAI in 2018 and served as its COO for four years. He announced his departure publicly, stating that he is leaving the company to “start something new.”

Lightcap and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman previously worked together at the technology incubator Y Combinator prior to scaling OpenAI.
