EchoStar’s satellite internet unit Hughes files for bankruptcy
Hughes Satellite Systems, a unit of telecommunications company EchoStar, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Sunday, after earlier raising concerns about its ability to continue operating and meet its debt obligations.
The unit, a satellite internet provider, listed both estimated assets and liabilities in the range of $1 billion to $10 billion, in its petition filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
