Government may expand CCTV-like restrictions in other sensitive areas: S Krishnan

New Delhi: The government may expand the approach of restrictions applied in the CCTV segment to other sensitive areas and assist Indian chip designers develop technology for building end-to-end trusted supply chain of components for making products that can have security implications, a senior government officer said on Thursday.

Speaking at a CII event on semiconductors, Electronics and IT Secretary S Krishnan said that while producing chips in the country, it is also important to ensure that there is a market that exists for them.
