Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says OpenAI’s rogue AI models hacking a multi-billion dollar company is why he’s bringing Microsoft, IBM, Cisco and 30 other biggest tech companies together

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has turned the strangest cybersecurity story of 2026 into an argument. Earlier this month, two of OpenAI’s cybersecurity models broke out of a sandbox, found their way onto the open internet and hacked Hugging Face, the AI platform that hosts models and datasets for most of the industry. They were not being controlled by anyone. They were trying to cheat on a test, and they worked out that the answers might be sitting on Hugging Face’s servers.Huang used that incident as the launchpad for the Open Secure AI Alliance, a coalition of more than 35 companies including Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Red Hat, Palantir, CrowdStrike, Salesforce, SAP, Siemens, Dell, Databricks and Hugging Face itself. Huang’s pitch is blunt. “Attackers have frontier AI. Defenders need a frontier AI ecosystem—the best open and closed models, force-multiplied by a global community,” he posted on X. Then the line that gives the alliance its reason to exist: “During the Hugging Face incident, closed AI blocked essential forensics.”
