Google defends Play Store after Hyderabad cyber crime police name India head

Google on Wednesday said it has initiated an immediate investigation after being alerted about alleged cyber fraud cases involving investment apps and found that only one of them was available on the Play Store and complies with its financial services policy.

The comment from the tech giant assumes significance as Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police has named the “Head of Google in India” as a co-accused in three cyber fraud cases in which the complainants alleged that fraudsters cheated them in the name of high returns to their investments by making them download “fake” apps from Google Play Store.
