MTNL liabilities jump to ₹40,000 crore in FY26, but firm remains Ebitda positive: Jyotiraditya Scindia

New Delhi: The liabilities of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) have risen to ₹40,000 crore in 2025-26 from ₹30,960 crore in 2021-22, communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a written reply to Parliament on Wednesday.

The government, he said, has taken various financial and administrative measures for the company due to which it has remained Ebitda positive since 2020-21.

As per data shared by Scindia, “Against total liabilities of approximately ₹40,000 crore, MTNL holds approximately ₹50,000 crore of non-core assets in market value terms.”
