AMD to invest up to $5 bn in Anthropic; AI startup to buy 2GW of computing chips
NEW DELHI: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) said on Wednesday it would make a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic, and the AI startup would buy 2 gigawatts (GW) of AMD’s latest-generation AI chips, beginning in the first half of 2027.
The deal comes as AMD seeks to expand in the AI market dominated by its American counterpart, Nvidia, while the Dario Amodei-led AI startup has been scrambling to secure computing resources to meet growing demand for its AI services.
