Global chipmaking gear sales to grow 23% to $167 bn in 2026 on AI boom, HBM semiconductors: SEMI

NEW DELHI: The global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales are estimated to rise by 23.2% year-on-year to $165.9 billion in 2026, which would mark the fifth consecutive year of growth, driven by the artificial intelligence (AI) boom and investments in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and next-generation technologies, according to the mid-year forecast data released by SEMI on Tuesday.

By 2028, the chipmaking equipment sales are projected to reach $229.5 billion, it found.
