Tower Semiconductor to invest $3 bn in Japan, backed by government grants, for capacity expansion
NEW DELHI: Israeli chipmaker Tower Semiconductor on Tuesday said it is expanding its capacity in Japan with a $3 billion investment, including a $1 billion in financial grants from the Japanese government.
The company will expand its 300mm Silicon Photonics (SiPho) capacity, which uses light to move data faster between chips, and Silicon Germanium (SiGe), which enables efficient semiconductors.
