AI data center demand outpacing raw material supply: Legrand’s Sanjay Motwani
NEW DELHI: The demand for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers is outpacing the supply of crucial components and raw materials in India, said a top executive of the French Legrand Data Center Solutions (LDCS).
“The lead times are exceptionally long for things like transformers. Then the ability to get copper in the volumes of copper and aluminium is becoming a constraint, especially for building track busways or busbars,” Sanjay Motwani, vice president (APAC), Legrand Data Center Solutions, told ETDatacenters in an interview.
Motwani said that while there is a capacity to manufacture components indigenously, the availability of raw materials is “becoming a key challenge”.
