Defunct government websites can mislead citizens: CIC
New Delhi: Government websites are official representation of public authorities and obsolete portals that continue to remain online can mislead citizens, the Central Information Commission (CIC) has said while directing the decommissioning of a nearly decade-old portal of the erstwhile Cyber Appellate Tribunal.
The observations came in an order passed by Information Commissioner P R Ramesh, who noted that the Cyber Appellate Tribunal (CyAT) had been merged with the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) in 2017 but its online portal continues to remain accessible.
