Countering AI-driven cyber threats

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has constituted a task force named cyber-suraksha.ai to address cybersecurity risks arising from advanced artificial intelligence tools — specifically AI-driven vulnerability detection models such as Claude Mythos — in the securities market ecosystem. The task force has been set up through a circular dated May 5, 2026 and an advisory on mitigation measures has been enclosed as part of the circular.

The circular has been issued under Section 11(1) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, and is to be read along with the Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Framework and subsequent updates issued by SEBI from time to time.
