ChatGPT-maker OpenAI has reportedly killed animated movie Critterz’s Cannes debut dreams for this year. According to a Bloomberg report, the AI-assisted animated feature missed its planned in-festival premiere at the Cannes Film Festival after OpenAI shut down Sora, the generative video model that was a key part of the project’s production pipeline. While Critterz was presented to international buyers through private screenings at the Cannes market, the film did not secure the festival debut producers had aimed for. According to the report, the project was created using OpenAI’s creativity engines, namely DALL-E and Sora, with Sora being used to generate video sequences of the movie.
