GPUaaS has potential for telcos, but challenges limit interest, says Tech Mahindra’s Amol Phadke
NEW DELHI: Homegrown IT services company Tech Mahindra said GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) presents a long-term potential for telecom carriers, but interest in this segment remains limited due to financial risks and evolving demand visibility.
“GPU‑as‑a‑Service presents long‑term potential for telcos as artificial intelligence (AI) demand shifts toward distributed compute and edge infrastructure, areas where telcos have inherent strengths, including network proximity and established enterprise relationships,” Amol Phadke, chief transformation officer, Tech Mahindra, told ETDatacenters in an interview.
