Consumer complaints: TRAI proposes to remove advisory committee, moots stricter penalties
NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is seeking to remove the long-standing advisory committee under the proposed Telecom Consumers Complaint Redressal (Fourth Amendment) Regulations, 2026, citing inefficiencies and “diffusion of accountability”, which caused consumer dissatisfaction.
Additionally, scheduling conflicts and member unavailability frequently pushed appeal resolutions beyond 40 days, adding to consumers’ woes.
