Trump administration is joining Elon Musk’s xAI in its legal challenge to Colorado’s new state law
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI, has received support from the Trump administration in opposing a new Colorado law. The US government has joined xAI in a legal challenge to a recently enacted state law aimed at curbing discrimination caused by AI systems in areas such as hiring and housing. The case, filed in a Denver federal court, highlights a growing conflict between AI developers’ claims around free speech and regulatory efforts to address what policymakers describe as “algorithmic discrimination” in high-stakes decision-making systems.
According to Bloomberg, based on a lawsuit against Colorado, the US Justice Department believes that the Colorado law infringes on the equal protection clause of the US Constitution.
