$15 billion investment: Google to kick off data centre project on April 28
NEW DELHI: Six months after the formal signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Google and the Andhra Pradesh government to setup a data centre hub, the global tech giant will formally kick off the project on April 28.
The groundbreaking for the Google data centre hub of 1 GW capacity will be held in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the company’s top brass, including Thomas Kurian. The big-ticket project, which will be set up with an investment of $15 billion, making it the largest single foreign direct investment in India, will comprise three data centre campuses near Visakhapatnam – at Adavivaram village (Visakhapatnam district), Tarluvada village (Visakhapatnam district) and Rambilli (Anakapalli district).
