Airtel, Reliance tap third-party capital to scale up in data centers: Report

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries Limited’s (RIL) partnerships with specialised private equity (PE) firms and hyperscalers for data centers in India will enable them to scale up in the high-growth areas while shielding their shareholders from capital calls, said Ambit Capital in a research note on Wednesday.

“Both Bharti and the Reliance groups are pursuing a low-risk adjacencies reinvestment approach. They are leaning on specialised pools of capital for data centers, e.g., Carlyle and Alpha Wave for Nxtra and Brookfield, Meta and Google, for Reliance,” the brokerage said.
