X says fraudster posing as Delhi Police sends fake takedown notices to its users
Social media platform X told Delhi High Court on Friday that purported takedown notices seeking removal of accounts and posts of digital rights organisations Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) and Software Freedom Law Centre India (SFLC) were sent by a fraudster impersonating Delhi Police.
Elon Musk-owned X also told the court that it filed a complaint with the Delhi Police against the impersonator after an internal investigation and upon finding that the notice was sent by an imposter and appeared to be fake and not from the police.
