Spotify considers AI remix feature for up to $5 extra a month; secures Universal deal as Sony talks continue
Spotify is considering an extra charge for AI remixes. The streaming company is targeting an early 2027 launch for a service that would let paying subscribers create remixes and covers of existing songs, according to the Financial Times. It is weighing an additional monthly fee of $4 to $5, though it has not finalised either the pricing or the launch date.
Spotify has secured licensing agreements with Universal Music Group, Merlin and Believe, while negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music continue.
