Amazon Q3 operating income jumps 61% to $28.1 billion, AWS sales rise 39%
Amazon reported a 12% year-on-year rise in third-quarter net sales to $201.9 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with $180.2 billion in the year-ago period. Operating income rose 61% to $28.1 billion from $17.4 billion, taking the operating margin to 13.9%, its highest ever.
Net sales grew 13%. The company said the change in Prime Day timing affected the comparison, as the event was held in the second quarter this year in most large countries, against the third quarter in 2025. Excluding this change, year-on-year sales growth would have been approximately 400 basis points higher.
