Sunil Mittal: Eutelsat OneWeb ahead of Starlink in India satcom queue
NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said on Wednesday that his satellite communication (satcom) venture — Eutelsat OneWeb — is significantly ahead of Elon Musk’s Starlink in the Indian satcom queue. Mittal noted OneWeb applied for its licence five years ago.
Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026, Mittal said, “I think I am significantly ahead of him in the queue. I applied five years back.”
He said Eutelsat OneWeb’s ground network has been ready for three years.
