ETSA 2026: Not getting H-1B visas will boost our startup ecosystem, says Piyush Goyal
Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that Indian companies and talent will not be hurt by changes to the US H-1B visa regime, and argued that curbs on such visas could instead push India’s startup ecosystem forward.
His comments follow the Trump administration’s latest curbs on Indian IT workers’ H-1B visas.
Speaking as guest of honour at the ET Startup Awards 2026, Goyal spoke about the Indian businessmen working in the US and asked what might have happened had they built their businesses and done their research in India.
