IMC 2026: WiSig Networks unveils 5G satellite modem, says Koala-Tag enters production

NEW DELHI: WiSig Networks, a homegrown telecom startup incubated at IIT Hyderabad, said on Wednesday at the India Mobile Congress (IMC 2026) that its Koala-Tag satellite messaging device has entered the production stage.

The company also unveiled its 3GPP Release 19 5G satellite modem platform, with customer shipments expected to commence in 2027, according to WiSig.

The 5G NR-NTN user equipment (UE) baseband platform is being shown publicly for the first time at IMC. WiSig aims to help operators and device manufacturers bring more standards-based products to market.
