OpenAI launches GPT-6.1 Sol with near-Astra performance at one-fifth the cost

OpenAI has introduced GPT-6.1 Sol, an upgraded version of GPT-6 Sol designed to deliver stronger performance across coding, professional work, computer use and scientific research at a lower cost. The company says GPT-6.1 Sol can approach the intelligence of its more capable GPT-6 Astra model on several tasks while costing about one-fifth as much. The new model is priced at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input costs just $0.10 per million tokens, which OpenAI says is 95% lower than standard input pricing and 50% lower than GPT-6 Sol’s cached input price.
