Nokia bets on dApps, Nvidia GPUs for 5G open RAN competitiveness: Report
NEW DELHI: Nokia’s strategic shift towards open RAN, dApps, and Nvidia GPUs marks a significant move to bolster its 5G competitiveness against rivals Ericsson and Samsung. The Finnish vendor is embracing a new open RAN interface, E3, designed for dApps that operate in the user-plane with sub-millisecond latency, aiming to make its offering more attractive to global telcos, according to a Light Reading report.
The company’s long-term vision for the Radio Access Network (RAN) involves a transition towards Nvidia’s graphics processing units (GPUs) as a general-purpose substitute for custom silicon.
