Google replaces Gemini Gems with Skills: What happens to your saved data?

Google has some bad news for all those who use Gems. The search and AI giant has officially announced that it is sunsetting Gems — the customisable persona feature introduced to its Gemini AI platform. The decision comes amid Meta’s release of Muse as an agentic AI ecosystem.

Gems fans needn’t worry, though, as Google is replacing it with a streamlined, action-oriented system called Skills.
