India can define global spectrum framework for 6G ‘golden band’: NITI Aayog’s Abhay Karandikar
NEW DELHI: India has an opportunity to play a defining role in shaping the global spectrum framework for sixth-generation (6G) mobile networks, particularly in the “golden band”, said Abhay Karandikar, member, NITI Aayog.
The “6G golden band” refers to the upper 6 GHz (6.425 GHz-7.125 GHz) and the 7-8 GHz frequency spectrum.
“India has an opportunity to play a defining role in shaping the global spectrum framework for 6G, i.e., the upper 6 GHz (6.425–7.125 GHz) and 7–8 GHz frequency spectrum, by building an early national consensus around the 6G golden band and taking a coordinated position in international forums,” said Karandikar at a high-level stakeholder meeting in the national capital.
