AI gap not FPI driver: Experts point to broader emerging-market outflows and tariffs

India’s lack of a major artificial intelligence (AI) play is not the reason foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have been pulling money out of the country, capital market veterans said at the ICBI Wealth Summit on Saturday.

Samir Arora, founder and group CIO of Helios Capital, cited Goldman Sachs data to argue that the FPI exodus has been a broader emerging-market phenomenon rather than a shift away from India towards AI-driven markets.
