VAST Data launches DataEnclave for confidential AI with Nvidia support
VAST Data, an AI Operating System company, has introduced VAST DataEnclave, a confidential AI capability integrated with its VAST DataEngine. This solution leverages Nvidia Confidential Computing and is supported by an ecosystem including AI model builders, AI clouds, AI security, and leading AI hardware providers such as Cisco and Supermicro.
DataEnclave addresses the challenge of deploying AI in highly regulated industries like financial services, healthcare, and government, where sensitive data cannot be moved to external AI services. It allows organisations to run advanced AI models on sensitive data within their own controlled environments, maintaining control over cost, performance, model selection, and data privacy.
VAST DataEnclave employs hardware-isolated execution to protect workloads within confidential virtual machines and containers, encrypting guest memory, GPU memory, and NVLink traffic. It uses cryptographic attestation, including Nvidia GPU attestation, to verify the trusted execution environment before decrypting sensitive assets. This ensures that proprietary models and sensitive data are accessible only to approved workloads in a trusted environment.
The solution also features independent key control, enabling enterprises and model builders to manage their respective keys through Bring Your Own Key Management System (KMS) integrations. This protects both fine-tuned enterprise intellectual property and model builders’ base weights. DataEnclave supports connected or fully air-gapped deployments using attestation services built on the open CNCF Trustee stack or in partnership with Fortanix for sovereign AI.
Renen Hallak, founder and CEO of VAST Data, said, “Models are becoming a resource the operating system has to manage, the same way it manages data. That means knowing which model fits which task, what it can see, who can use it and under what rules, and doing all of that inside the same security and operational boundaries an enterprise applies to everything else.”
Justin Boitano, vice president (enterprise AI) at Nvidia, added, “VAST Data’s integration of Nvidia Confidential Computing delivers protection for both enterprises and model builders, providing security, identity, permissions, governance and compliance as a foundation of the agent architecture.”
VAST DataEnclave is currently being previewed and is expected to ship in Q1 2027 through VAST Data and its OEM partners, including Cisco and Supermicro. Indian enterprises in regulated sectors could benefit from such secure AI deployment solutions, addressing data sovereignty and privacy concerns.
