Centre says UPI payments above Rs 2,000 to attract Rs 5 charge, consumers to remain exempt from fee
The cost of processing some high-value UPI payments is set to change from October 15, with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) introducing a revised merchant pricing framework.
Under the new structure, certain UPI transactions above Rs 2,000 will attract an interchange charge of up to 0.4 per cent. The fee will be levied on merchants and will not be collected from consumers, meaning routine UPI payments will continue to remain free for users.
