Apple unveils Rs 3 lakh foldable iPhone Duo, enters premium smartphone market segment

At a time when global smartphone shipments are forecast to decline 14.3 per cent year on year, Apple has introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, which is widely expected to shore up interest in the growing segment. The launch also marks the arrival of the company’s new CEO, John Ternus.

Foldable phones have been around since 2019, with Samsung delivering its eighth iteration in July. Apple’s entry into the segment may help make foldables the only smartphone category to grow in 2026, the International Data Corporation (IDC) projects.
